When we last saw our heroes, they confronted a demonic beast that Jack the Stalker had history with- The Goatman. After defeating the violent monster, they locked away its baneful skull in the trophy room and mentally prepared themselves for future trouble.
Tristan reflected, “The Goatman has finally died.”
“What now?” asked Raidra.
“I think I know where to go next.”
“Okay.”
“We should go to-”
Raidra didn’t hear the rest of the sentence as she found herself waking up in a cabin all of a sudden. Surprised and confused, she wondered, “Wait, what happened? How did I get in this cabin?” She tried calling her allies. “Tristan? Gtd? Jack?”
There was no answer. She looked around and spotted a PC and a microphone laying on a large table. The PC was turned off. Raidra tried to turn it on. It worked and the PC showed the Windows 10 logo. It asked for account info. Raidra put in her own account info to see if it would work. The computer started up the OS, which turned out to have three folders and one Internet app.
“I’m glad that worked!” Raidra said to herself. “Now let’s see what these files have to tell me.”
Raidra opened a folder. It contained an audio file without a name. Raidra braced herself and played the file.
The file played, “My soul is still living, but I thought the curse was over…”
“Dang,” the unsettled Raidra remarked simply. She opened a second folder. It had a video. “This is going to get creepier, isn’t it?”
She played the video. It showed The Halloween Man in front of his barn.
“Oh, no, it’s him!” realized Raidra.
The Halloween Man spoke quietly and sadly. “Whoever sees this… well, I need your help. Free me from this curse that I can’t escape from.”
Raidra nodded in understanding. Before she could do anything else, a face appeared on the screen as it smiled. The lights flickered. Raidra gulped and braced herself.
The wickedly smiling face on the screen declared, “I AM THE ONE THAT YOU CALL STAN, AND I WILL DELETE YOU ALL!”
Raidra stared in shock. “Stan! Is he the one responsible for creating The Halloween Man?” She looked at the folders again. “I guess I’ll find out.”
She went to open the third file. Before she could, however, she woke up in the castle.
“Are you okay!?” asked Tristan.
“What- What th-” replied Raidra. She looked around at the others, who were looking at her in various degrees of confusion and concern. “Uh… yeah…” She took a moment to gather herself, then explained, “I had a vision of some sort. It was about The Halloween Man, and about Stan.”
