I used to explore abandoned locations and film my discoveries for my boss that kept himself anonymous. I had no idea why for awhile and he was supposedly a famous director, but I doubted that as he never filmed or edited footage himself.
Also one of his employees told me that he slept with all of his lights on. I thought he was scared of the dark. That's what everyone thought, but none of us ever met him except in prerecorded videos.
So I was hired to visit a mansion in the Canadian northern hemisphere Montreal; the mountain was Mont Royale.
So I went there with the best of the best, and as we arrived we felt a chill down our spines and we all had a bad feeling as if something terrible was about to happen.
But we could not give up as a fair amount of cash was awaiting us when we would be done.
So we walked through a broken window and began filming. All the lights were functional as if they were recently changed but no one lived there for years.
So we didn't know what to think of this and kept going. Graffiti was lacking as well but the structural support was broken and cracked. Dust and cobwebs littered the place.
Most objects were fine, however, and we came to the conclusion that this place might not be abandoned after all. We tried to call the boss but he didn't reply, so we decided to at least visit the basement before leaving and so we did.
In the basement there were many boxes and chests. Inside there were broken mirrors, bat statues, animal blood... well, at least we hope it was animal in nature...
As soon as we heard the basement's door open we hid behind walls and watched to see who entered.
And it was no human, it was a large humanoid bat with sharp fangs and nails. Its eyes were black and it looked really old. He looked around and grabbed the blood, and then it flied back upstairs.
At this point we had to run out of there so we searched for a second entrance, but there was none so we took the risky route.
We sneaked past the demonic-looking creature, which was drinking the blood, and we managed to reach the entrance, but as we opened the door the bat heard us and it ran towards us at high speeds. We ran as fast as our legs could take us and it was night outside.
The creature screamed in a high-pitched, piercing screech and it vanished; nothing was left behind.
We were terrified but relieved that this nightmare was over, and as we uploaded the footage to our boss he gave us our well-deserved payment, but he decided to call us on discord.
The boss's voice sounded low and mean; it sounded like he was constantly angry.
This is how our call took place.
Boss
You might be surprised about this call, but did you do something to the resident of the mansion...
Luke (Me)
Well, no, we ran away from it and it vanished...
Boss
It vanished? What do you mean by that?
We were worried that we would get fired but Max saved our team.
Max
Well, the resident wasn't mentally stable and he looked quite frightening. He chased us and he died while doing so. We had to hide the body to prevent us from getting arrested...
Boss
Um, I see... Also I'm sorry that I forgot to tell you about the resident. Next time I'll tell y'all.
Nick
Understood. We can't wait for our next assignment.
The call ended there and then we heard on the news that the mansion was demolished by an unknown demolisher.
We agreed that it was our boss, but we refused to ask him as we had so much to gain on the line.
